Constitutional Convention
2029
It was a day unlike any other. A joint session of Congress was about to begin, which would shape the course of history. It was springtime, and the flowers were beginning to burst into bloom, signifying the start of a new era. Robins had returned, and though the air was chilly, it was filled with the hope of new beginnings and the luscious, sweet scent of hyacinths and lilies of the valley. The sky was blue with puffy white clouds, but dark gray storm clouds were brewing to the west, and the forecast was for rain and gusty winds.
“Senator Murphy, may I have a moment of your time?”
“Sure, Dan. What’s on your mind?”
“Let’s step into your office. What I have to say isn’t ready for prime time.”
“Okay. Come in and have a seat. My next meeting is in 15 minutes. I need to get ready for the convention.”
“And that’s exactly what I wanted to talk with you about. The Dem’s want to use the convention to pass the Equal Rights Amendment, end the Electoral College, approve redistricting, and overturn Citizens United. My constituents, and I suppose yours as well, have a keen interest in using this historic moment to finally clarify Second Amendment language. There is concern that the Court, with the recent appointment of two liberal Justices, may use the Idaho case to weaken citizens’ rights to bear arms. Let us use this time to our advantage. My staff has drafted language that could replace our founders’ language with clarity regarding private gun ownership. I have floated legislative language by three Democratic western governors, and they are supportive of a possible bill. But I think we could use leverage to get the language embedded into the Constitution during this Constitutional Convention.”
“Dan, while I appreciate your work on this, you and I both agree that the more important work is to finalize the Dems attempt at redistricting into strategically formalizing the post-pandemic regional alliances. This will fundamentally protect our minority rights. We need this sovereignty to protect our way of life against the godless liberalism of the radical left. Nothing is more important to me, and nothing will derail or distract us from this work. Our constituents need this. They may not know it yet. But once we have hardened political lines to protect our people and our culture, they will rally and support it. Even thoughtful Dems support a regional realignment. Our country can no longer maintain the current structure. We are too big. Too diverse. Too divided. Unification is no longer possible. We must protect what is ours. We can adopt your legislation within our province without compromise once the country is sectionalized. This is not the time to lose focus.”
“Excuse me, Senator, this is not about losing focus; it is about enshrining our right to bear arms. We can do both. We will need constitutional protection to secure our borders once regional alliances are ratified.”
“Gun rights are better left to the new districts. The Libs will never allow liberalizing gun laws, and they have the votes. No, it’s better to leave that off the table. I need to have the Western States give us more environmental freedom for our mining and oil industries in exchange for cuts in military spending.”
“Since when did you go soft on military strength?”
“Patience, my friend. You fail to see the bigger picture. A strong central military doesn’t serve us well. We need our regional tax dollars to support our local militia. Except for the Navy and Coast Guard, the military uses our states for wargames, and we have storage depots for military hardware of all kinds. We have warplanes, tanks, missile silos, nuclear warheads, underground bunkers, and pretty much all we need to protect our district sovereignty.”
“Jesus, Senator! Are you talking about secession?”
“Not at all. We can use the central government to our advantage. But we must maintain the strength to resist the encroachment of the deep state into our district rights. We may not have the political power to change Washington, DC, but we do have the power to preserve our liberty and values. And, we need to prepare for the coming new world order. Our side controls the media. We define the truth. Donald Trump paved the way forward. He demonstrated that people would believe what they are told if told within the framework of their deeply held beliefs. And we define their beliefs. Our constant messaging on social media, talk radio, and all of our television news outlets, newspapers, journals, and magazines synchronize the messaging we need people to receive. And they believe us. They believe us because we appeal to their most basic instincts. They are sheep, and we are the shepherds. The problem with the truth is that it binds you. And people do not want to be bound. We are a freedom-loving and freedom-seeking people. So, we shall create our own truth, and the people will believe it. And those who don’t believe it will be shoved to the side. We will diminish them. The intellectual elites of this country will be shouting into the void. Why? Because they don’t have the truth that matters. There are no facts, only interpretations and alternative narratives about reality. There is no need to argue, reason, and persuade. Our truth will be published in our textbooks by our publishers. We will label any thought, any idea, any voice that contradicts our unified messaging to be lies. It must be this way. They have driven us to this. Our message resonates with people here and around the world. Whoever controls the internet controls the world. And, Senator, we shall control the world.”
